Gold Bars and the Gold Market

Gold Bars are Wardogs' endgame currency: you get them by exchanging in-game cash, and leftover cash turns into Gold Bars at the end of a season, so they survive wipes. They are spent on camos in the Gold Market, which unlocks at Wardog level 35 for $150,000 in Season 2. Bulkhead has pledged never to sell cash, Gold Bars or camos for real money.

Gold Bars are Wardogs' long-term currency: Bulkhead says cash can be exchanged for Gold Bars, "the endgame currency" spent on cosmetics in the Gold Market, and in Season 2 the Gold Market unlocks on the Wardog track at level 35 for $150,000 of in-game cash. Gold Bars are the part of a season's earnings that outlasts the wipe: per Dexerto, leftover cash converts into Gold Bars at the end of a season at a rate that changes daily, and the bars stay on your account. Everything they buy is cosmetic, and Bulkhead has pledged never to sell cash, Gold Bars or camos for real money, so Gold Bars are not a way to pay to win. How cash is earned is on Economy and Cash; what a wipe resets is on Seasons and Wipes.

What Gold Bars are

Bulkhead's first FAQ promised "No Battlepass. No Pay to Win" and cosmetics earned by playing, with gold bars as the endgame currency for the Gold Market (Bulkhead, Feb 18, 2026). Cash in Wardogs buys every loadout and persists from match to match during a season, but a season's end resets it; Gold Bars are the store of value that does not reset. Dexerto (Sep 8, 2026) says they are permanently tied to your account. Some guides, Dexerto among them, call the shop the Black Market; Bulkhead's Season 2 notes call it the Gold Market, and "The Black Market & Vault" was the name of a planned metagame feature in Bulkhead's Apr 7, 2026 "Early Access & Beyond" plan (Early Access and Roadmap).

How to get Gold Bars

There are two ways, both from in-game cash:

  • Exchange cash. Bulkhead's FAQ says cash can be exchanged for Gold Bars. Dexerto says the "Gold Exchange Rate" fluctuates daily; neither Bulkhead nor Dexerto publishes the rate.
  • End the season with cash in the bank. Leftover savings convert into Gold Bars automatically "based on their value at the end of the season", per Insider Gaming (Oct 9, 2026), and Dexerto says the same.

So every dollar from the Money Making Guide that you do not lose on a loadout counts toward Gold Bars at the wipe. PCGamesN's Season 2 preview remarked that "gold prices aren't what they used to be" (PCGamesN, Oct 9, 2026) without giving numbers. How the Season 1 balance was converted when Season 2 began on Oct 15, 2026 has not been published in figures as of Oct 26, 2026.

The Gold Market

In Season 2 the Gold Market is an unlock on the Wardog career track: level 35, for $150,000 in-game (Bulkhead, Oct 14, 2026). Until then you can hold Gold Bars but not spend them there. The Wardog track and its other unlocks are on Progression and Unlocks.

Camos in the Gold Market (Season 2)

Season 2 added eight Gold Market camos in four families and took one out.

Camo family Weapons and vehicles Note
Black & Gold Little Bird Season 2 exclusive
Chocolate Chip Evo-3 Ultra, M14, TCX-SPR Three of the four new Season 2 guns
Two-Tone Desert Galil, Mosin, Havoc
Digital Wood M500
Black & Gold (AK) AK Removed from the Gold Market in Season 2

Dexerto's cosmetics list (Oct 15, 2026) also counts a Middle Finger emote, bobbleheads, music tapes and a Faction Logo skin among the game's cosmetics; not all of them come from the Gold Market. Bulkhead said Steam Trading Cards and Points Shop items would be added during Season 2, pending Valve's approval (Season 2 notes); Vi.ki found no Bulkhead post announcing their arrival as of Oct 26, 2026. The weapons themselves are on Weapons and Helicopters.

Other cosmetics: the Supporter Pack and Twitch Drops

The only cosmetics sold for money are in the Supporter Pack, which comes with the $49.99 Supporter Edition or as DLC ($12.99 per its store page): three faction "Starter Weapon" camos (a Valkyra A-91, a Lonestar Bushmaster and a Manticore KH-2002), a Little Bird "Taxi" camo, a Supporter icon on the scoreboard (which can be hidden), and Grenade and Helmet Bobbleheads (Bulkhead, Aug 11, 2026). It gives no cash, Gold Bars or gear. Dexerto says season-exclusive items and Twitch Drop rewards also survive a wipe (Dexerto). See Price and Supporter Edition.

The monetization pledges

When pre-orders opened, Bulkhead made three promises (Bulkhead, "PRE-ORDER NOW!", Aug 11, 2026):

  1. No monetization at any point in Early Access, except the optional Supporter Edition.
  2. In-game cash and Gold Bars will never be monetized.
  3. Camos will never be sold directly.

Bulkhead has said paid extras could come later: monetization mechanics begin at 1.0, when the base price rises ("We're a business that needs to make money", Insider Gaming, Aug 28, 2026), and GameSpot reported that this is "years from now", with camos and currency still never sold (GameSpot, Aug 13, 2026). What they would be has not been announced as of Oct 26, 2026.

Is Wardogs pay to win?

No. Nothing that affects a fight can be bought with real money: the Supporter Pack is cosmetic, and cash and Gold Bars cannot be bought. PC Gamer reported "zero monetization throughout early access", with skins that will "always be earned, not bought" apart from the supporter pack (PC Gamer, Aug 11, 2026). Press criticism is about in-game power instead: players who earn enough cash buy level 4 armor, tanks and attack helicopters, and Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer said "I think the endgame is a bit sh*t" (PC Gamer, Sep 29, 2026). The Season 2 blue-team bonus paid in-game cash and XP, not real money, and was dropped after a day (Season 2).

Exploits, real-money trading and resets

Bulkhead resets the cash and progression of players who abuse exploits or trade for real money. Since Sep 12, 2026, cash exploiters get a timed ban with cash and XP reset to 0 (Bulkhead), and on Sep 30 Bulkhead said anyone caught exploiting cash or XP, "or worse Real Money Trading", had had cash and progression reset, and "That leniency is now over" (Bulkhead, Update 0.1.2). Bulkhead's posts do not say whether Gold Bars are removed in those resets as of Oct 26, 2026. Bans are covered on Anti-Cheat and Bans.
