Best guessBulkhead's launch trailer says Wardogs is "COMING TO CONSOLES IN 2028", and CEO Joe Brammer calls the goal "the 1.0 launch on console", but no date is announced, so we count to the end of 2028, the last day the announced year allows. Bulkhead on Steam

Price and Supporter Edition

Wardogs costs $39.99 on Steam (£36.99 in the UK), and the Supporter Edition costs $49.99 with a cosmetic Supporter Pack of camos, a scoreboard icon and two bobbleheads. It is not free to play and has no battle pass; Bulkhead plans to raise the price to $49.99 and then $59.99 during Early Access, and Steam's usual refund rule (14 days, under two hours played) applies.

Wardogs costs $39.99 on Steam, and the Supporter Edition costs $49.99: the same game plus the Supporter Pack, a set of cosmetics with no gameplay effect (Steam, read Oct 26, 2026). It is not free to play, there is no battle pass, and in Early Access the Supporter Pack is the only thing Bulkhead sells besides the game (Bulkhead, Aug 11, 2026). The price is planned to rise as Early Access goes on, so $39.99 is the lowest it is meant to be. Both editions are on the Steam store page; neither was discounted on Oct 26, 2026.

What the Supporter Edition contains

The Supporter Edition is the game plus the "WARDOGS - Supporter Pack", which is also sold on its own as DLC for $12.99 to anyone who bought the standard game. Bulkhead lists the pack's contents as (Bulkhead, Aug 11, 2026):

Item What it is
Valkyra A-91 camo A Valkyra-branded camo for the A-91 starter weapon
Lonestar Bushmaster camo A Lonestar-branded camo for the Bushmaster starter weapon
Manticore KH-2002 camo A Manticore-branded camo for the KH-2002 starter weapon
Littlebird "Taxi" camo A camo for the Little Bird helicopter

None of it changes how a gun or vehicle performs, so the extra $10 buys looks and a thank-you, not an advantage. The three camos match the three Factions. Other camos come only from the Gold Market, bought with Gold Bars earned in play (Gold Bars and the Gold Market).

Is Wardogs free?

No. Wardogs is a paid game on Steam, listed at $39.99 with no free-to-play version (Steam, read Oct 26, 2026). The only free ways in so far were the betas before launch: the first closed beta of Aug 21 to 23, 2026 took free sign-ups through Request Access on the store page (PCGamesN, Aug 18, 2026), and Bulkhead opened the second beta to everyone on Sep 5, 2026. No free weekend for the released game had been announced in Bulkhead's posts as of Oct 26, 2026. The betas are on Release History.

No battle pass: the monetization pledges

Bulkhead's February FAQ promised "No Battlepass. No Pay to Win." and cosmetics earned by playing (Bulkhead's FAQ, Feb 18, 2026). With pre-orders it made three pledges (Bulkhead, Aug 11, 2026):

  1. No monetization at any point in Early Access, except the optional Supporter Edition.
  2. In-game cash and Gold Bars will never be sold: "they must be earned through play".
  3. Camos will never be sold directly.

After 1.0 that may change. Bulkhead's team told Insider Gaming that monetization mechanics would begin at 1.0, when the base price rises, because "We're a business that needs to make money" (Insider Gaming, Aug 28, 2026), and the "10 reasons not to buy" video said running costs after 1.0 "will need to be covered if base game sales no longer cover them" (PC Gamer, Aug 11, 2026). What that will be has not been said. The only other extras on the way are Steam Trading Cards and Points Shop items, added within Season 2 once Valve approves them (Bulkhead, Oct 14, 2026).

The planned price rises

The store's Early Access answer says Wardogs is priced lower during Early Access and "we may raise the price closer to full release" (Steam, read Oct 26, 2026). Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer gave the steps at Gamescom as "scaling pricing": $39.99 now, $49.99 in about 12 months around version "0.5", and $59.99 at about 24 months (GamesRadar+, Sep 22, 2026). Both are plans, not dates, and neither had happened as of Oct 26, 2026.

He did not soften it. "Our game is worth this, and if you don't agree with that, please don't buy it," Brammer said, adding that "We believe that our price needs to go up to make this game sustainable" (GamesRadar+). He has also argued that games are too cheap for what they cost to make (GamesRadar+, Sep 24, 2026). Buying now does not mean paying again later: Bulkhead says Early Access players get everything added later (Insider Gaming). GamesRadar+ expects the console versions planned for 2028 to cost more than today's PC price (GamesRadar+, Sep 11, 2026). The plan behind the steps is on Early Access and Roadmap.

Refunds

Wardogs follows Steam's ordinary refund policy. Valve refunds a game for any reason if the request comes within two weeks of purchase and the game has been played for less than two hours, and it says Early Access playtime counts against that two-hour limit (Steam Refunds, read Oct 26, 2026). A pre-purchase can be refunded at any time before release, with the 14-day, two-hour window starting on release day. DLC such as the Supporter Pack is refundable within 14 days if the game has been played for less than two hours since it was bought.

Bulkhead has pointed players to refunds more than once. With pre-orders it wrote: "If you pre-order to get access to the Closed Beta and decide WARDOGS isn't for you, that's okay, we actively encourage refunding" (Bulkhead, Aug 11, 2026). Before launch, after its anti-cheat change broke Linux play, the developers asked anyone who had bought it for Proton to "refund the game if you mistakenly bought it" (GamingOnLinux, Sep 5, 2026). Some players asked for refunds after the 175 ms ping cap of Oct 21, 2026 (GameWatcher, Oct 22, 2026); the cap is on Servers and Matchmaking.

Steam Family Sharing is off

Bulkhead turned off Steam Family Sharing for Wardogs on Friday, Sep 18, 2026, because "A number of accounts were exploiting Steam Family Sharing to bypass bans" (PCGamesN, Sep 19, 2026). Each player needs their own copy. Brammer defended it on X: "The $40 price tag is the best anti-cheat." The rest is on Anti-Cheat and Bans.
