Wardogs 1.0 and console release: Dec 2028Not announced: our best guess from Bulkhead's plan to bring Wardogs to PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with 1.0, in 2028.
Best guessBulkhead's launch trailer says Wardogs is "COMING TO CONSOLES IN 2028", and CEO Joe Brammer calls the goal "the 1.0 launch on console", but no date is announced, so we count to the end of 2028, the last day the announced year allows. Bulkhead on Steam

Servers and Matchmaking

Wardogs has no matchmaking button: you pick a match from a server browser, through the Deploy screen's Official, Community, Infantry Mode and Low-Level choices. Official servers have kicked high-ping players since Season 2, with a 175 ms maximum since Oct 21, 2026, and limited servers are planned.

Wardogs has no matchmaking: you choose a server yourself, from a browser of official servers and persistent community servers, which PC Gamer praised as "a real server browser". Since Update 0.1.2 (Sep 30, 2026) the Deploy screen sorts that choice into Official, Community, Infantry Mode and Low-Level servers. Official servers kick players whose ping stays too high, a limit Wardogs' official X account lowered to 175 on Oct 21, 2026, and Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer has admitted Bulkhead failed to provide enough infantry-only servers. Each server runs the one Control Zone mode for up to 100 players.

The server browser and the Deploy flow

At launch the browser listed official servers and a community section of persistent rented servers, sortable by players, ping, rulesets and maps (PC Gamer, Sep 15). PC Gamer's complaints then: no favoriting or tiered queues yet, and "joining a server as a group is harder than it should be."

Patch 0.11, deployed on Sep 14, 2026, split the front end into two browsers, Community and Official. It removed filters from the Official browser ("we do not have Official modified game modes"), added text search to Community servers, made each Community Server ID persist between matches and restarts, put Show Empty/Full on the quick bar, and required server names to sort alphabetically with no double spaces.

Update 0.1.2 on Sep 30, 2026 added the Deploy flow: pick Official, Community, Infantry Mode or Low-Level servers, then a server. The same update brought Advanced Filters back to Official servers, showed full server names on hover, showed your connection and queue position after Join, made the region selector show how many regions you have picked, added an Anonymous mode that hides the server name on the loading screen, and let gamepads work on the Deploy screen. On first boot the menu offers the tutorial before any of this, then "Deploy. Server Browser." (Insider Gaming); see Spawning and Redeploying.

Official and community servers

Official servers are Bulkhead's own and run the standard ruleset. Community servers are rented from three approved hosting partners, QONZER, BisectHosting and xREALM, and Bulkhead recommends them as the place "where admins can instantly ban bad actors"; on official servers it points players to the in-game report function. Since Patch 0.11 a community server keeps one ID you can search or share, and for one week from that patch community servers paid a bonus 5% End of Match cash bonus.

Community admins have gained tools patch by patch:

Patch Admin feature
0.11 (Sep 14, 2026) Persistent server IDs, text search, naming rules
0.1.2 (Sep 30, 2026) Scheduled daily restarts (UTC), RCON AllowedHosts
Season 2 (Oct 15, 2026) Their own maximum ping limits, which allows cross-regional play

Sources: Patch 0.11, Update 0.1.2, Season 2 notes.

Bulkhead's Sep 12 list of features still to come for community servers was favoriting, tiered priority queues, a Message of the Day prompt, better warmup activities, no AFK kicks while seeding, and team switching controls. Season 2 added team-switch rules and seeding rewards: players who join and fill empty servers get rewards and a vendor discount once the match starts. Bulkhead also warned that community hosts exploiting Season 2's faction bonus would be punished (Factions).

Bulkhead has published no map rotation order; servers change map between matches, as the Patch 0.11 notes on server IDs imply. What is known about the maps is on Maps.

Infantry servers and Brammer's admission

Infantry servers remove ground and air vehicles, and Bulkhead left them to community hosts. On Sep 23, 2026 Brammer said "We're failing on getting Infantry servers to you guys", because "we're not seeing enough of them" (GamesRadar+). Six days later he called the game's big failure "community servers and us not hosting official infantry and level cap servers", not balance. The Deploy flow's Infantry Mode and Low-Level choices arrived the next day, on Sep 30, but they list servers; Bulkhead's notes do not say it began hosting official infantry servers. In the clip Bulkhead says that at launch it failed to surface rank-capped community servers for lower-level players.

Regions and ping

Bulkhead has not published where its official servers are. The region selector exists (Update 0.1.2), and Patch 0.11 increased server capacity in Asia, calling Asia "an important part of the worldwide Wardogs playerbase." In the clip, from before launch, Bulkhead says pre-orders help it plan how many players and servers each region needs.

Season 2 (Oct 15, 2026) brought region-based maximum ping limits on Official servers, lenient at first. A player over the limit for a sustained period is kicked and cannot rejoin that server until the next map transition; server lag spikes do not count. The browser gained maximum-ping tags and filters.

On Oct 21, 2026 Wardogs' X account said: "Today we have begun the process of controlling regions... we will be reducing the maximum ping on a server to be 175", to protect players "from an influx of regions that are more prone to cheating." GameRiv noted the post names no regions and gives no cheating figures, and that region locking is still being built. GameWatcher reported that some official servers had allowed up to 250 ms under Season 2's limits, and that Brammer said VPNs make players hard to locate and the measure is not final. The cap brought some of the game's worst review days; see Reception and Reviews. Cheating itself is on Anti-Cheat and Bans.

Queues

Launch day, Sep 10, 2026, was all queue. At one point 45,590 players were in the game and 168,000 waiting (PCGamesN): only about 10 players a second got in instead of the planned 100, and login tickets kept expiring. Launch Stability Hotfix #1 at 20:20 UTC that day made everyone restart, update and rejoin the login queue in controlled batches, and staff then let players in manually 10,000 at a time until the queue was empty. Brammer blamed partly being "rate-limited by Valve" and advised: "I wouldn't leave the queue, I'd just stay in" (PC Gamer). TheGamer reported waits of 40 minutes to several hours. The full story is on Release History and Crashes and Errors. The clip is Bulkhead's launch-night footage, with 46k players in the game and 117k in the queue at that moment.

Since 0.1.2 a full server shows your queue position after you click Join. Bulkhead's maintenance windows have run at 08:00 UTC for about an hour (Sep 14, Sep 30 and Oct 2, 2026), and Season 2's at 08:00 to 09:30 UTC on Oct 15.

Playing with friends

There is no party system, lobby or group queue: friends join the same server and pick the same team (Game Rant). Dexerto suggests a voice call, a low-population server, joining at the same moment and making one squad, or right-clicking a friend in Steam and choosing "Join Game". Rock Paper Shotgun reported that a friends queue is "going to take a lot more time", so it was not in Season 2. Wardogs is on PC only, so there is no crossplay (Consoles and Crossplay).

Planned: limited and primitive servers

None of this is in the game as of Oct 26, 2026. On Oct 16 PCGamesN reported planned "Limited Mode Servers" to replace low-level servers, removing level 4 armor, power weapons and vehicles such as tanks and artillery, at first for a mid-season update. On Oct 17 PCGamesN described limited "primitive" servers that cap weapons, equipment and vehicles at lower progression tiers. By Oct 25 PCGamesN placed both in Season 3: limited servers without power weapons or vehicles, and primitive servers that replicate the low-to-mid game. Season 3's Nov 12, 2026 date comes from Brammer's reply on Steam as PCGamesN reported it, not from a Bulkhead news post as of Oct 26, 2026; see Season 3 and Early Access and Roadmap. In the clip, from Oct 24, 2026, Bulkhead's developers call them "primitive" servers, a limited gear experience meant to replicate the low-to-mid game.

Frequently asked questions

Does Wardogs have matchmaking? No. Wardogs uses a server browser: the Deploy screen lets you pick Official, Community, Infantry Mode or Low-Level servers, then a server from the list.

What is the ping limit in Wardogs? Official Wardogs servers have kicked players whose ping stays above a region-based limit since Season 2. On Oct 21, 2026 Wardogs' X account said the maximum would be reduced to 175, a measure Brammer said is not final, per GameWatcher.

Can you rent a Wardogs server? Yes. Wardogs community servers are rented from three approved hosts, QONZER, BisectHosting and xREALM, and their admins can ban players, set ping limits and schedule restarts.

Are there infantry-only servers in Wardogs? Infantry Mode is a Deploy choice since Sep 30, 2026, but those servers depend on community hosts. Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer said on Sep 23, 2026 that Bulkhead was "failing on getting Infantry servers" to players.

Where are the Wardogs servers? Bulkhead has not published its official server locations as of Oct 26, 2026. The browser has a region selector, and Bulkhead added server capacity in Asia on Sep 14, 2026.

Can you queue with friends in Wardogs? Not as a party. Wardogs has no group queue, so friends join the same server and team, or use Steam's "Join Game"; a friends queue was described as taking "a lot more time."

What are limited servers in Wardogs? They are planned, not live: servers without power weapons, level 4 armor or heavy vehicles, plus "primitive" servers for the low-to-mid game, which PCGamesN reported for Season 3.
