Ghillie Suit
The Wardogs ghillie suit is two Recon items worn together, the Ghillie Body Suit ($3,000) and the Ghillie Headwear ($2,500), both unlocked at Recon level 26 in Season 2 for $80,000 and $60,000. It hides you from Infrared Range Finders and removes the death cam after you kill someone.
The ghillie suit in Wardogs is two pieces of Recon gear that must be worn together: the Ghillie Body Suit and the Ghillie Headwear, both unlocked at Recon level 26 in Season 2 (update 0.2.0, Oct 15, 2026). Unlocking them costs $80,000 and $60,000 once, and wearing them costs $5,500 every life ($3,000 and $2,500), per Dexerto's Wardogs database. The suit hides you from Infrared Range Finders and removes the death cam an enemy would see after you kill them, so a sniper stays hidden after the shot. Bulkhead's store page names it as one way to play: "purchase a ghillie suit and snipe from a distance."

How to get the ghillie suit
Level the Recon track to 26. Like every role track, Recon levels by buying and using its items, and Dexerto's Recon guide suggests spotting with binoculars and moving from the Scout Rifle to the SKS at level 5. At level 26 pay the two unlocks ($140,000 in all), then buy both pieces at the vendor each life you want them. Wearing one piece alone is not enough: each item's page says it must be worn with the other.
Season 2 moved both pieces from Recon level 24 to 26, and a variant the notes call "(Dead)" from level 27 to 41, per Bulkhead's Season 2 notes. Progression wiped at the start of Season 2, so the suit must be unlocked again each season (see Seasons and Wipes).
There are cheaper ways to wear one. Any dead player's body can be looted for all its gear, PC Gamer notes, and teammates can stock supply crates with ghillie suits for others to buy, per Shacknews' logistics guide.
How it works
The suit is foliage camouflage; Dexerto's item text says both pieces are made "to match the foliage around Kavkazi," a place name that differs from the game's official setting, Kolchia (see Maps). Its two listed effects are what make it more than a skin. First, it hides you from Infrared Range Finders, the Recon tool with infrared magnification and a distance readout. Second, it removes the death cam after you kill an enemy, so the player you shot cannot watch where the shot came from.
That first effect matters more since the Infrared Range Finder came back. Bulkhead pulled IR Rangefinders from the vendor on Oct 2, 2026 because "they cross the line into being too overpowered", and Season 2 returned them at $3,200 with batteries that last about 80 seconds of use. See Medical and Recon Equipment.
Dexerto lists no damage reduction for either piece. Before Early Access, Bulkhead said on Jun 16, 2026 that the ghillie suit sits in the armor slot, leaving its wearer unarmored and vulnerable to small arms fire if found; no later Bulkhead note says whether that still holds, as of Oct 26, 2026.
Counters
Bulkhead and the press have published no counter guide for the ghillie suit as of Oct 26, 2026. Its item pages name only one tool it beats, the Infrared Range Finder; nothing in them says it hides you from binoculars, the monocular, the plain Range Finder or scopes. The Season 2 Molotov also burns destructible foliage. In the clip Bulkhead's developers say the Molotov sets dry grass alight, and joke about ghillie suits on fire.
Guide advice
Guides place the suit in a full sniper kit rather than a starter one. Game Rant's Recon loadouts of Sep 12, 2026 start with an SKS at Recon 7, a small hammer to fortify the nest, and a Recon Tent, a cheap buildable that hides its occupants; it names the hilltop church on Bakurani as a good spot. Because the suit costs $5,500 a life before a rifle, a ghillie sniper needs to earn it back; spotting, which pays for every target marked, was cut by about 30% in Season 2. More is on Sniper Guide and Sniper and Marksman Rifles. In the clip SaucySurg's beginner Recon guide leaves the ghillie suit for a later, advanced sniper guide.

Season 2 cut big-caliber damage but raised sniper hit-location damage. -
