Wardogs 1.0 and console release: Dec 2028Not announced: our best guess from Bulkhead's plan to bring Wardogs to PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with 1.0, in 2028.
Best guessBulkhead's launch trailer says Wardogs is "COMING TO CONSOLES IN 2028", and CEO Joe Brammer calls the goal "the 1.0 launch on console", but no date is announced, so we count to the end of 2028, the last day the announced year allows. Bulkhead on Steam

Attachments

Wardogs guns take four kinds of attachment (optic, magazine, underbarrel and muzzle), each bought at the vendor every life once it is unlocked on a role track for a one-time cash cost. In Season 2 a red dot costs $340 to $840, a suppressor about $1,000 to $1,450, and the best sniper scope $1,800.

Every gun in Wardogs that takes attachments has four slots: Optic, Magazine, Underbarrel (foregrips and bipods) and Muzzle (brakes, flash hiders, suppressors and chokes), as Dexerto's Wardogs database lays them out. Each attachment is an item like any other: you unlock it once on a progression track for cash, then pay its price at the vendor every life you carry it. There is no gunsmith beyond those four slots yet, and the three faction starter rifles (A-91, Bushmaster M17S and KH-2002) take no attachments at all. Prices and unlocks below are Season 2 values (update 0.2.0, live Oct 15, 2026) from Dexerto's item pages, which match every change in Bulkhead's Season 2 notes.

How customization works

You fit attachments in the equipment vendor at your team's spawn while building a loadout, and they cost cash every life, like the gun itself (see Economy and Cash). Unlocking happens on one of the seven tracks in Progression and Unlocks: the overall Wardog track or the Assault, Medic, Recon and Support role tracks. Reaching the level is not enough; you also pay the unlock cost once per season. Close-range sights sit mostly on Assault and Medic, sniper glass on Recon, and LMG parts on Support, so playing a role is what opens its parts.

Loadouts are not saved as presets. Season 2 reworked the "Rebuy Last Loadout" button, which fills the vendor with your last kit, attachments included, so you can add or drop parts before paying. A dead player's gun keeps its parts, and PC Gamer notes that any body can be looted for all its gear, which is the cheapest way to try a scope you have not unlocked.

Dexerto describes what each part does in words, not numbers: the Hexagon Brake gives "Strong horizontal recoil reduction" with a minor aiming speed penalty, and a suppressor adds a reduced sound profile and less flash. Bulkhead has published no percentages for attachment effects as of Oct 26, 2026. In the clip Evo4Fun says the in-game stat cards do not give exact numbers and reads data-mined stats instead.

Bulkhead plans more. Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer told PC Gamer on Sep 29, 2026 about a future "intel" resource that would unlock gun parts beyond today's grips, scopes and muzzles, and the Season 2 notes say the Mosin lost its other optics because they were not meant to fit "until future planned" customization features arrive. Both are planned, not in the game; see Early Access and Roadmap.

Optics

Close-range sights are 1.2x; prism scopes run from 1.5x to 4x; the marksman and sniper scopes fit only DMRs and sniper rifles (see Sniper and Marksman Rifles). In the clip Evo4Fun (Oct 7, 2026, before Season 2) says sights under 2x magnification speed up aiming down sights.

Dexerto also lists a CGM4 Scope and an MMGL Sight with no price or unlock, probably sights that come fitted to their weapons.

Magazines

Every gun comes with a cheap standard magazine; the extended ones are the unlocks. Magazines are bought one at a time, and PC Gamer points out that a stack of 100 loose rounds (two inventory slots) refills empty magazines with C, cheaper than buying five. In the clip Evo4Fun says magazines smaller than a gun's default improve recoil and aiming speed, and larger ones worsen both.

Muzzles and suppressors

Brakes cut recoil, flash hiders cut flash, and suppressors add a reduced sound profile. Most muzzles fit a family of guns by caliber. In the clip Evo4Fun says flash hiders matter because muzzle flash gives your position away to snipers and helicopters.

Foregrips and bipods

Angled grips mainly cut horizontal recoil and vertical grips cut vertical recoil and sway, per Dexerto's grip pages. Bipods deploy on flat surfaces for strong recoil, spread and sway reduction at the cost of moving; the Hybrid Grip Pod also works as a grip when stowed. In the clip Evo4Fun compares the TDG and RVG vertical grips: the TDG cuts vertical recoil most, but slows aiming down sights.

What guides recommend

Dexerto's weapon tier list of Sep 16, 2026 builds its top guns around the 2.5x Combat Optic: the FAL with the 30 RND magazine, Constrictor Brake and Rubberized Ergonomic Foregrip; the M4 with the TopComp Brake and Mini Angled Foregrip; the PKM with the Orpheus Max Brake and PKM Bipod; and the MP5 with the Four Reticle Reflex, Dual Port Brake and RK6 grip.

Game Rant's Assault loadouts of Sep 17, 2026 start with an AK74 carrying the CQB 74 Brake, RK6 grip and 2.5x Combat Optic, then move to an M4 with the TopComp Brake, Rubberized Ergonomic Foregrip and CQ-2x, which it prefers to the 2.5x for mid range. Its Recon loadouts of Sep 12 pair the SKS with the DTK-1 Brake, SKS Bipod and 6x Precision Rifle Scope, then the SV98 with the SRVV Brake, SV98 Bipod and 6-10x Scope MRAD. For a beginner, PC Gamer's minimum kit includes just one attachment: a dot sight.

All of these predate Season 2, which moved many unlocks and cut the damage of .308 and 7.62 rifles; see Best Loadouts and Best Weapons for the full kits.

Patch changes

Season 2 (Oct 15, 2026) moved most attachments to earlier levels or other tracks and cut most muzzles and grips by up to a third, per Bulkhead's Season 2 notes. Examples: Birdcage Flash Hider $900 to $600, Shift Foregrip $1,150 to $840, GOL Multi-Caliber Suppressor $1,800 to $1,450, RC-556 Suppressor $1,550 to $1,310, Full Choke $1,400 to $1,150 and BMR-308 Flash Hider $1,280 to $930.

The same notes swapped several sights between tracks: the Holographic Sight went to Medic 6 and the Four Reticle Reflex to Assault 22, the Kobra Reflex dropped to Wardog 4 while the Compact T-2 Red Dot rose to 17, and the Spectr 4x and 4x Combat Prism Scope with Reflex traded places between Support 21 and Assault 43. The CQR grip fell from Assault 38 to 14 ($25,000 to $10,000), the AMP-9 30 RND magazine rose from $10,000 to $50,000, and the Mosin got its own PU 91/30 scope and lost every other optic.

Before launch, the Season 1 changelog of Sep 9, 2026 raised the 6-10x MRAD unlock from $25,000 to $40,000 and the 6-10x MOA from $30,000 to $45,000. Every change is on Patches and Updates.

Frequently asked questions

What attachments are in Wardogs? Wardogs has optics, magazines, underbarrel grips and bipods, and muzzles (brakes, flash hiders, suppressors and shotgun chokes). Each is unlocked once on a role track and bought at the vendor every life.

How do you unlock attachments in Wardogs? Reach the listed level on the right track (Wardog, Assault, Medic, Recon or Support), then pay the one-time unlock cost, for example $7,500 for the Kobra Reflex at Wardog level 4 in Season 2.

What is the best scope in Wardogs? Guides most often pick the 2.5x Combat Optic for rifles (Dexerto's tier list builds) or the CQ-2x for mid range (Game Rant), and the 6-10x scopes for Wardogs snipers. The Frontier 2.5x-10x at Recon 47 is the most expensive scope at $1,800.

How much is a suppressor in Wardogs? Suppressors cost from $1,000 (STRELIX, Suppressor T8L1 Scout) to $1,450 (GOL Multi-Caliber) a life in Wardogs Season 2, plus a one-time unlock of $5,000 to $50,000.

Can you save attachment loadouts in Wardogs? Not as presets. Wardogs' "Rebuy Last Loadout" button refills the vendor with your last kit, attachments included, and custom loadouts are planned.

Why can't I put attachments on my starter rifle in Wardogs? The three faction starter rifles in Wardogs, the A-91, Bushmaster M17S and KH-2002, take no attachments; buy another gun such as the T-21 or AK74.
