Wardogs 1.0 and console release: Dec 2028Not announced: our best guess from Bulkhead's plan to bring Wardogs to PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with 1.0, in 2028.
Best guessBulkhead's launch trailer says Wardogs is "COMING TO CONSOLES IN 2028", and CEO Joe Brammer calls the goal "the 1.0 launch on console", but no date is announced, so we count to the end of 2028, the last day the announced year allows. Bulkhead on Steam

Submachine Guns and Shotguns

Wardogs has five SMGs and two shotguns in Season 2. The SMGs live on the Medic track: PP-19 Bizon (default, $1,000), MP5 (Medic 4, $1,800), PP-19 Vityaz (Medic 15), AMP-9 (Medic 20) and Super-45 (Medic 35, $5,600). The shotguns are the $400 MP43 double barrel and the M500 pump (Support 10).

Wardogs has five submachine guns and two shotguns in Season 2, per Dexerto's weapon database. Every SMG sits on the Medic track: the new PP-19 Bizon is unlocked by default, the MP5 opens at Medic level 4 and the Super-45 at Medic 35 for $200,000, per Bulkhead's Season 2 patch notes. The shotguns are the cheap MP43 double barrel, which has no unlock listed, and the M500 pump action on the Support track. In September tier lists the MP5 and the M500 were the picks of their classes; Season 2 then gave the MP5 more horizontal recoil and pushed the Super-45 "firmly into a close-quarters role."

SMG kills and assists earn Medic XP, which is why Game Rant's budget Medic carries one, as its broke loadouts guide explains. How the Medic track works is on Medic, and the defibrillators those builds carry are on Healing and Revives.

PP-19 Bizon

The PP-19 Bizon is Season 2's new SMG, "built around a high-capacity helical magazine," and the free one: it and its 53 round magazine ($200) are unlocked by default on the Medic track. It costs $1,000 and fires 700 RPM, the slowest SMG, with a 200 m effective range per Dexerto.

MP5

The MP5 is the best-rated SMG of Season 1: S tier on Dexerto's list and Destructoid's. Season 2 made it far easier to reach, moving it from Medic level 15 for $75,000 to Medic level 4 for $25,000, but raised its price from $1,500 to $1,800 and gave its recoil "more of a horizontal pattern" because "it was too easy to use." Dexerto's build is the 20 round magazine, Four Reticle Reflex, Dual Port Brake and RK6 foregrip. The clip is Evo4Fun's Season 1 MP5 build: a 20 round magazine with the QD5 suppressor.

PP-19 Vityaz

The PP-19 Vityaz went the other way in Season 2: from Medic level 4 for $25,000 to Medic level 15 for $50,000. It costs $1,200 and fires 800 RPM per Dexerto, and its 50 round drum was moved from Medic 33 to 29 in the Season 1 changelog.

AMP-9

The AMP-9 was free in Season 1. Since Season 2 it and its 15 round magazine unlock at Medic level 20 for $75,000, the 20 round magazine at Medic 25 for $12,500, and its price rose from $900 to $1,375. It fires 900 RPM with a 0.25 s aim-down-sights time per Dexerto. Game Rant's Season 1 Medic guides used it as the mid-tier pick and in a $1,750 budget build with the RK6 grip, Ballista Brake and 20 round magazine, prices that Season 2 changed.

Super-45

The Super-45 is the top of the Medic track and the most expensive SMG: .45 ACP, 1,200 RPM and a base damage of 30 per Dexerto. Game Rant called it the SMG with the lowest recoil and highest damage in Season 1. Season 2 more than doubled its price, from $2,600 to $5,600, raised its unlock from $150,000 to $200,000 at Medic 35, and increased its damage falloff beyond its 50 m effective range, "pushing it firmly into a close-quarters role." Dexerto's falloff table now reads full damage to 50 m, 0.6 at 70 m, 0.4 at 100 m and 0.3 at 150 m.

Weapon Type Price Unlock RPM Range Dexerto tier

M500 Six-shell pump 12 gauge Not listed Support 10, $50,000 120 70 m A

Both fire 12 gauge: 7mm Buckshot, the Rifled Slug (unlocked at Wardog level 36 in Season 2) and a tracer shell. Season 2 made slug damage against armor scale with the armor's tier instead of one flat reduction (Armor and Gear). The clip is Evo4Fun's Season 1 advice, before slugs scaled with the armor's tier.

MP43

The MP43 is the cheapest primary weapon in Wardogs after the free starter rifles, at $400, with no unlock listed. Dexerto ranks it D, but Game Rant calls it the best budget weapon of a season's first week: it can two-shot Level 2 armor from range and instantly down unarmored or Level 1 targets up close. KeenGamer's budget pick in September was the MP43 too.

M500

The M500 is a six-shell pump action that unlocks at Support level 10 for $50,000, with a 120 RPM fire rate and a 70 m effective range. Destructoid put it in S tier and Dexerto in A, which makes it the best-rated shotgun; Dexerto's page lists no vendor price.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best SMG in Wardogs? The MP5 was S tier for Dexerto and Destructoid in September 2026, and Season 2 moved it to Medic level 4 for $25,000 while adding horizontal recoil. The Super-45 hits hardest (base damage 30 at 1,200 RPM) but costs $5,600 a life and loses damage quickly past 50 m since Season 2.

How do you unlock the MP5 in Wardogs? In Season 2 the MP5 unlocks at Medic level 4 for $25,000 and costs $1,800 each life; in Season 1 it was Medic level 15 for $75,000.

Is there a free SMG in Wardogs? Yes: since Season 2 the PP-19 Bizon and its 53 round magazine are unlocked by default, and the Bizon costs $1,000 each life.

What is the best shotgun in Wardogs? The M500 pump action is the best-rated (Destructoid S, Dexerto A) and unlocks at Support level 10 for $50,000. The $400 MP43 is Game Rant's best budget weapon for the start of a season.

Why do SMGs level the Medic track in Wardogs? In Wardogs every SMG sits on the Medic track, and SMG kills and assists earn Medic XP, as Game Rant notes, so a Medic levels faster carrying one.
