Assault Rifles

Wardogs has nine assault rifles in Season 2: three free faction starter rifles, then the AK74 ($800, default), T-21 ($1,200), Galil ($2,000), M4 ($2,800, Assault 28), TCX-SPR ($3,200, Assault 20) and FAL ($6,000, Assault 35). Tier lists from September put the M4 and FAL on top, before Season 2 cut .308 damage by 25%.

Wardogs has nine assault rifles in Season 2: the three free faction starter rifles (A-91, Bushmaster M17S and KH-2002), the AK74, T-21, Galil, M4, the new TCX-SPR and the FAL, as Dexerto's weapon database lists them. The AK74 is unlocked by default for $800 a life, and the rest open on the Assault track, up to the FAL at Assault level 35 for $250,000, per Bulkhead's Season 2 patch notes. Every outlet's September tier list ranked the M4 and FAL at the top; those lists predate Season 2's caliber cuts. Kills with an assault rifle also pay the assault archetype kill bonus of $2,000 (up from $1,500) in Season 2.

Faction starter rifles

Each team gets one free rifle: the A-91 for Valkyra, the Bushmaster M17S for Lonestar and the KH-2002 for Manticore (Factions). They share one profile in Dexerto's database: 5.56x45mm, semi and burst fire, 700 RPM, and no attachments at all. They cost nothing to lose, which makes them the gun for a life you expect to throw away. Destructoid's early impressions listed weak starter guns among the things Wardogs needs to fix. The Supporter Edition's three camos are faction-branded versions of these rifles.

AK74

The AK74 is the first real rifle most players buy: 5.45x39mm, auto and semi, 650 RPM and an effective range of 500 m per Dexerto. Season 2 made it and its 30 round magazine unlocked by default (it had been Assault level 3 for $10,000) and halved its price from $1,600 to $800. Game Rant's low-level Assault build is an AK74 with the CQB 74 Brake, RK6 Tactical Foregrip and 2.5x Combat Optic and four spare magazines. The clip is Evo4Fun's Season 1 AK74 setup, also built on the CQB74 muzzle.

T-21

The T-21 was the budget pick of Season 1, when it was free to unlock and cost $600: KeenGamer called it "the strongest overall choice" and Destructoid its "best beginner assault rifle". Season 2 swapped it with the AK74: the T-21 now unlocks at Assault level 3 for $10,000 and costs $1,200, with its STANAG 30 round magazine free. It fires 750 RPM, the fastest of the cheap rifles, with a 550 m effective range per Dexerto. Game Rant's Season 1 broke loadout ran a T-21 with RK6 grip, Hexagon Brake and 30 round magazine for $1,430, at the old price.

Galil

The Galil unlocks at Assault level 10 for $35,000 and costs $2,000 in Season 2 (down from $2,200). It has the highest muzzle velocity of the 5.56mm rifles at 950 m/s but a shorter 400 m effective range. Dexerto and Destructoid both put it in A tier in September.

TCX-SPR

The TCX-SPR is Season 2's new rifle (Bulkhead's Oct 9 preview called it the "TCX Spear"), and it took the M4's old slot: Assault level 20 for $100,000, with its 28 round magazine at $50. It fires 7.62x39mm at 800 RPM for a base damage of 34, the most of any automatic rifle below the FAL, per Dexerto, at $3,200. Bulkhead's notes say the FAL now "sits closer to the TCX-SPR and M4." As of Oct 26, 2026 no approved outlet had ranked it.

M4

The M4 is the rifle every September tier list put at or near the top: S tier for Dexerto and Destructoid, A for KeenGamer. It fires 800 RPM with a 0.49 s aim-down-sights time and weighs 2.92 kg, per Dexerto. Season 2 made it much harder to reach: its unlock moved from Assault level 20 to 28 and from $100,000 to $150,000. It still costs $2,800 a life. Dexerto's build is the STANAG 30 RND (M4), 2.5x Combat Optic, TopComp Brake and Mini Angled Foregrip; Game Rant's mid-level build prefers the CQ-2x Prism Combat Scope for mid range.

FAL

The FAL is the top of the Assault track and the hardest-hitting rifle in the class: .308 Winchester, an 800 m effective range and a base damage of 45 per Dexerto. It was the S-tier pick in all three September lists. Season 2 hit it twice: the .308 cut of 25% took its damage from 60 to 45, and its unlock rose from $200,000 to $250,000 at Assault level 35, though its price fell from $6,500 to $6,000. Bulkhead says it "still has the highest damage-per-shot within the assault rifle category". It starts with only 10 and 20 round magazines, and the 30 round one takes more progression, as Game Rant notes; Game Rant fires it single-shot with the Three Port Brake, TDG Vertical Foregrip and CQ-2x. The clip is Strider's September tier list, at the Season 1 price of $6,500.

Which assault rifle is best

For Season 2 there is no settled answer yet: the only tier lists from approved outlets (Dexerto, Destructoid, KeenGamer) are from September. They agree that the M4 and FAL are the strongest and that a cheap rifle you can afford to lose is worth more than an expensive one you are scared to use. PC Gamer's Morgan Park plays "level two armor and cheaper guns because I don't want to risk a $20k loadout." 5.56mm, the M4's round, was not among the calibers Season 2 cut, while .308 and 7.62x39mm were.
