Wardogs 1.0 and console release: Dec 2028Not announced: our best guess from Bulkhead's plan to bring Wardogs to PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with 1.0, in 2028.
Best guessBulkhead's launch trailer says Wardogs is "COMING TO CONSOLES IN 2028", and CEO Joe Brammer calls the goal "the 1.0 launch on console", but no date is announced, so we count to the end of 2028, the last day the announced year allows. Bulkhead on Steam

Armor and Gear

Wardogs has four levels of body armor and helmets, from Level 1 ($400 armor, $200 helmet, Wardog level 3) to Level 4 ($5,000 armor, $4,500 helmet, Wardog level 100) in Season 2, plus backpacks from a free pouch to 24-slot packs with weapon slings, tactical vests that open quickslots, and two parachutes.

Wardogs sells body armor and helmets in four levels, all unlocked on the overall Wardog track: Level 1 opens at Wardog level 3 and Level 4 at level 100, and in Season 2 (update 0.2.0, Oct 15, 2026) a full Level 4 set costs $9,500 a life. Around them you wear a backpack (inventory space), a tactical vest (quickslots and reload speed) and, if you jump from a helicopter, a parachute. Everything is bought at the vendor each life and lost if you die unrevived, so gear is the biggest choice in every loadout; see Economy and Cash. Prices and stats here are Season 2 values from Dexerto's item pages and Bulkhead's Season 2 notes.

Quick facts

Armor levels 4 (Level 1 to Level 4)
Level 4 Armor $5,000, 18 kg, 60% damage reduction, Wardog 100
Level 4 Helmet $4,500, 80% suppression reduction, Wardog 100
Biggest vendor backpack 24 slots plus two weapon slings ($4,000)
Free gear The Pouch (6 slots)
Parachutes Basic $500, Sport $700 (steerable)

Body armor

Level 1 and Level 2 protect the upper and lower torso; Level 4 adds the upper arms and pelvis. Each level weighs more than the one before: Level 4 is six times as heavy as Level 1. In the clip StoneMountain64 gives the beta's weight bands and puts Level 4 armor at about 18 kg on its own.

Armor Damage reduction Covers Weight Price Unlock (Wardog level, cost)
Level 1 Armor Low Torso 3 kg $400 3, $10,000
Level 2 Armor Medium Torso 4.5 kg $1,000 30, $50,000
Level 3 Armor 50% (High) Torso 10.5 kg $2,500 70, $100,000
Level 4 Armor 60% (Very high) Torso, upper arms, pelvis 18 kg $5,000 100, $200,000

Sources: Dexerto: Level 1 Armor, Dexerto: Level 2 Armor, Dexerto: Level 3 Armor, Dexerto: Level 4 Armor, Bulkhead's Season 2 notes (percentages). The percentages for Level 1 and Level 2 are not published; Dexerto says only "Low" and "Medium".

Season 2 cut Level 3 damage reduction from 55% to 50% and Level 4 from 65% to 60%, raised Level 3 Armor from $2,000 to $2,500 and Level 4 from $4,000 to $5,000, and moved the Level 3 unlock from Wardog level 60 to 70, per Bulkhead's Season 2 notes. The same patch cut the base damage of the big calibers (.308 by 25%), so armor and guns both moved at once.

Helmets

Since Season 2, helmets do more than stop bullets: Level 3 helmets cut suppression by 68% and Level 4 by 80%, while the Level 4 Helmet muffles game audio and proximity chat, narrows your field of view and fogs over when you sprint, per Bulkhead's Season 2 notes. Its Season 2 preview called the top two "Heavy" and "Super Heavy" helmets. In the clip a Bulkhead developer describes the Level 4 helmet dampening the game's audio.

Helmet Damage reduction Protects Weight Price Unlock (Wardog level, cost)
Level 1 Helmet Low Head Not listed $200 3, $7,500
Level 2 Helmet Medium Head 1.6 kg $500 30, $37,500
Level 3 Helmet 50% (High) Head, neck 3 kg $2,000 70, $75,000
Level 4 Helmet 60% (Very high) Face, head, neck 4.5 kg $4,500 100, $150,000
Pilot Helmet Low Head Not listed $6,400 Not sold at the vendor per Dexerto
Tank Helmet High Head, neck Not listed $5,000 Not sold at the vendor per Dexerto

Sources: Dexerto: Level 1 Helmet, Dexerto: Level 2 Helmet, Dexerto: Level 3 Helmet, Dexerto: Level 4 Helmet, Dexerto: Pilot Helmet, Dexerto: Tank Helmet, Bulkhead's Season 2 notes. The notes give one percentage for "Level 3 armor and helmets" and one for Level 4.

Season 2 raised the Level 3 Helmet from $1,500 to $2,000 and the Level 4 Helmet from $3,000 to $4,500, per the same notes. Dexerto lists the Pilot Helmet (it muffles vehicle audio and highlights target vehicles) and the Tank Helmet (it removes suppression and tinnitus) as "In-Game" items with prices, and no Bulkhead note says how you get them, as of Oct 26, 2026. For crews, see Helicopters and Tanks and Artillery.

Backpacks

A backpack is your inventory: magazines, bandages, grenades, a FOB kit and spare weapons all need grid space. The two biggest vendor packs add slings, which carry an extra weapon or specialist item (a second gun, a launcher). In the clip Fallout Plays fills a backpack with four magazines, then shows loose ammo taking far less room.

Backpack Grid (slots) Weight Price Unlock (Wardog level, cost)
Pouch 3x2 (6), vertical items only Not listed Free Default
Scout Backpack 4x2 (8) 0.5 kg $350 Default
Field Backpack 6x2 (12) 0.8 kg $650 12, $20,000
Operator Backpack 5x3 (15) 0.88 kg $800 20, $25,000
Assault Backpack 5x5 (Dexerto lists 21) 1.3 kg $1,200 32, $50,000
Ruck Backpack 6x4 (24) 1.5 kg $1,600 55, $100,000
Gunner Backpack + Sling 6x4 (24) and one sling Not listed $2,400 73, $125,000
Arsenal Backpack + 2 Slings 6x4 (24) and two slings Not listed $4,000 Not confirmed, $175,000 per Dexerto
Medium Backpack + Sling Storage and one sling 4 kg $1,400 Not sold at the vendor per Dexerto
Halftrack Backpack 6x5 (30) Not listed $15,000 Not sold at the vendor per Dexerto

Season 2 made the big packs cheaper: the Ruck Backpack fell from $2,400 to $1,600, the Gunner Backpack + Sling from $3,500 to $2,400 and the Arsenal Backpack + 2 Slings from $5,000 to $4,000, per Bulkhead's Season 2 notes. Size matters for Support players: the FOB kit is 2x3 and will not fit the free pouch, GameSpot notes (see Building and Fortifications).

Tactical vests

Vests hold no items; they open the quickslots that let you swap to grenades, bandages and gadgets without opening the inventory, and they speed up reloads and equipping.

Vest Quickslots Reload and equip speed Price Unlock (Wardog level, cost)
Small Tac Vest 5 and 6 Minor increase $100 Default
Medium Tac Vest 5 to 8 Moderate increase $250 14, $10,000
Large Tac Vest All Strong increase $400 50, $25,000

Sources: Dexerto: Small Tac Vest, Dexerto: Medium Tac Vest, Dexerto: Large Tac Vest.

Parachutes

The Basic Parachute is single use, opened by hand and cannot be steered; the Sport Parachute is single use and steerable. Season 2 raised the Basic from $100 to $500, cut the Sport from $1,000 to $700 and moved the Sport's unlock to Wardog level 34 ($25,000), per Dexerto and Bulkhead's Season 2 notes.

The same notes made parachutes take longer to open, stop them opening below about 10 m, and add fall damage if you open below roughly 50 m while falling fast: "Make sure you trust a pilot before getting into their aircraft." Eurogamer warns that opening too early gets you sniped and too late gets you killed. Jumping from helicopters is covered on Spawning and Redeploying. In the clip StoneMountain64, from the beta when a parachute cost $100, says to pull it late, but not too late.

What guides recommend

Most guides tell new players to buy cheap. Game Rant's budget kit of Sep 15, 2026 costs $3,050 before a gun: a Level 1 Helmet, Level 2 Armor, the small vest, a Field Backpack, a Basic Parachute, five bandages and the free Emergency Resuscitator. It picks the Level 1 Helmet over Level 2 because bolt-action snipers could still one-shot a Level 2 helmet (Season 1). PC Gamer's Morgan Park wrote on Sep 29, 2026 of "buying level two armor and cheaper guns" rather than risk a $20,000 loadout.

Top-tier armor is the part Bulkhead admits it got wrong. Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer told PC Gamer he did not think "level four armor is working," and Bulkhead said Season 2's faster progression let some players reach top armor and vehicles within days, which it called the wrong call. Its planned limited servers would remove Level 4 armor, power weapons and heavy vehicles, as PCGamesN reported on Oct 16, 2026; they are planned, not in the game (see Season 3). In the clip Bulkhead says the Tier 4 helmet and armor had too few trade-offs before Season 2.

Gear also drops for free. Bodies can be looted for all their gear, PC Gamer notes, and a dead player's backpack stays lootable for several minutes; the launch Twitch Drops gave Level 1 and Level 2 gear, per Dexerto. For full kits, see Best Loadouts; for camouflage, see Ghillie Suit.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get Level 4 armor in Wardogs? Reach Wardog level 100 on the overall track and pay the $200,000 unlock; then Level 4 Armor costs $5,000 each life in Wardogs Season 2, and the Level 4 Helmet ($150,000 unlock) $4,500.

What is the best armor in Wardogs? Level 4 Armor has the most protection in Wardogs (60% damage reduction, torso, arms and pelvis, Season 2), but at 18 kg and $5,000 many guides recommend Level 2 armor until you can afford to lose it.

How much damage does armor block in Wardogs? Bulkhead's Season 2 notes give 50% for Level 3 armor and helmets and 60% for Level 4 in Wardogs. Level 1 and Level 2 percentages are not published.

What does the Level 4 helmet do in Wardogs? Since Season 2 the Wardogs Level 4 Helmet cuts suppression by 80% and protects the face, but it muffles sound and proximity chat, narrows your view and fogs when you sprint.

What is the biggest backpack in Wardogs? The largest vendor packs in Wardogs hold 24 slots: the Ruck Backpack ($1,600), the Gunner Backpack + Sling ($2,400) and the Arsenal Backpack + 2 Slings ($4,000). Dexerto lists a 30-slot Halftrack Backpack that is not sold at the vendor.

Do you keep your armor when you die in Wardogs? Only if a teammate revives you. A Wardogs player who dies without a revive respawns with nothing, and the body can be looted by anyone.
