Controls and Keybinds
Wardogs' default PC keys are W, A, S and D to move, Left Shift to sprint and hold breath, F to interact, R to reload, Tab for the inventory, M for the map, J for squad push-to-talk and K for proximity push-to-talk. Helicopters fly on Shift or Space and Ctrl (sources differ). Gamepads work, with an aim assist slider since Season 2, though Steam lists no controller support.
Wardogs' default PC controls are W, A, S and D to move, Left Shift to sprint (and to hold your breath while aiming), F to interact, R to reload, Tab to open the inventory, M for the tactical map, J to talk to your squad and K to talk to everyone nearby, as Dexerto lists them (Dexerto, read Oct 26, 2026). Every key can be rebound in the game's settings, and players do: helicopter keys in particular differ between guides (see the Conflicts below). Wardogs also accepts a gamepad, with controller binds and an Aim Assist slider added in Bulkhead's Season 2 notes, even though Steam's store data lists no controller support. Settings for sensitivity and graphics are on Best Settings.

Two of these are easy to miss. Holding Left Shift while aiming reduces weapon sway and zooms slightly, and pressing C in the inventory refills your empty magazines from loose ammo, which PC Gamer says is cheaper than buying extra magazines (PC Gamer, Sep 10, 2026). F1 while downed offers up to $500 to whoever revives you; see Healing and Revives.
Building keys
With a hammer out, Dexerto lists V to dismantle, R to rotate the buildable and B to toggle snapping (Dexerto, read Oct 26, 2026). Hold the left mouse button to build, and hit the yellow crosses that appear on the structure to build much faster (PC Gamer, Sep 9, 2026). What to build is on Building and Fortifications.
Vehicle keys

Helicopters start locked, so press L before your passengers try to climb in (GameSpot, Sep 11, 2026). Since update 0.1.2 on Sep 30, 2026 you cannot throw grenades, smoke or C4 from enclosed vehicle seats (Bulkhead, Sep 30, 2026). More on driving is on Vehicles and Driver.
Helicopter keys
GamesRadar+ lists these helicopter defaults on keyboard and mouse, with controller equivalents (GamesRadar+, Sep 16, 2026):
| Action | Keyboard and mouse | Controller |
|---|---|---|
| Collective up (lift) | Left Shift | RT / R2 |
| Collective down (descend) | Ctrl | LT / L2 |
| Pitch | W, S | Left stick |
| Roll | A, D | Left stick |
| Yaw | Q, E | LB and RB / L1 and R1 |
| Fire | Left mouse button or Space | A / Cross |
| Countermeasures | V | D-Pad Up |
| Reload | R | |
| Camera | C | |
| Free look | Alt | |
| Horn | H | |
| Exit | Hold F |

Conflicts. The collective keys are not settled. GamesRadar+ gives Left Shift to lift and Ctrl to descend; Dexerto lists Space as Collective (Raise) and Ctrl as Collective (Lower) for rotary vehicles (Dexerto, read Oct 26, 2026); and GameSpot rebinds raise to Space and lower to Left Shift under the rotary vehicle keybinds (GameSpot, Sep 11, 2026). The defaults may have changed between builds. Check your own Rotary vehicle keybinds before your first flight.
GameSpot also turns on Rotary vehicle mouse control, so the mouse yaws left and right and pitches up and down, with pitch and yaw sensitivity around 80%, mouse axis isolation at 70% and Invert Y for air off. Dexerto suggests leaving Helicopter Flight Assists on at first and turning them off once comfortable. GamesRadar+ finds helicopters easier to fly on a controller than on mouse and keyboard. Bulkhead applied helicopter input damping to every input device at launch (Bulkhead, Sep 9, 2026). The full walkthrough is the Helicopter Flying Guide. In the clip GhostGaming sets the same options his own way: pitch and roll at 50%, axis isolation at 0% and Invert Y on.
Voice chat keys
Push-to-talk to your squad is J and to everyone nearby (proximity) is K; U toggles voice chat from the scoreboard, and clicking the mouse wheel places a ping (Dexerto, read Oct 26, 2026). Enemies hear proximity chat too, so PC Gamer uses team text chat (Enter) for enemy positions when they are close (PC Gamer, Sep 10, 2026). Everything about the two channels is on Voice Chat.
Controller support
Steam's store data lists no controller support for Wardogs, and the base package reports no full gamepad support (Steam, Steam package data, read Oct 26, 2026). Yet the game does take a gamepad, and Bulkhead keeps adding to it. Update 0.1.2 made the Deploy screen work with a gamepad (Bulkhead, Sep 30, 2026), and Season 2 (Oct 15, 2026) added an Aim Assist strength slider under Settings > Controller > Advanced (default 1; 0 turns it off), aim assist on Firing Range dummies and faster aim acceleration (Bulkhead, Oct 14, 2026). Controller support was one of the points in Bulkhead's "10 Reasons NOT to Buy" video before launch (GameSpot, Aug 13, 2026). Bulkhead has not called it full support as of Oct 26, 2026. The clip is that point of the video, promising partial gamepad support and a small amount of aim assist.
Season 2 moved several controller binds:
| Action | Controller (Season 2) |
|---|---|
| Open Inventory | Menu |
| Toggle Weight | View |
| Cycle Minimap Zoom | View |
| Remove From Loadout | Y (hold) |
| Bribe | X |
| Deploy Crate | D-Pad Up (hold) |
| Switch primary tabs | LB and RB |
| Switch secondary tabs | LT and RT |
| Accept or reject squad invite | View and Menu |

The same notes fixed grenade cooking with X and releasing LT failing to cancel a bandage self-heal. Dexerto's controller sensitivity picks are on Best Settings; console versions are planned for 2028 (see Consoles and Crossplay).
Rebinding and the parachute bug
Every action can be rebound in the game's settings, with separate lists for infantry and rotary vehicles. In the launch period, a bug could leave the parachute (Space by default) unbound; GameSpot's fix was to set the bind again in the game's GameUserSettings.ini file (GameSpot, Sep 11, 2026). Season 2 also changed how parachutes behave: they open more slowly and will not open below about 10 m (Bulkhead, Oct 14, 2026). Other fixes are on Crashes and Errors and Spawning and Redeploying.
Frequently asked questions
What are the default controls in Wardogs? Wardogs uses W, A, S and D to move, Left Shift to sprint, F to interact, R to reload, Tab for the inventory, M for the map, J for squad voice and K for proximity voice on PC, as Dexerto lists them.
How do you fly a helicopter in Wardogs on keyboard? In Wardogs, GamesRadar+ lists Left Shift to lift and Ctrl to descend, W and S to pitch, A and D to roll and Q and E to yaw; Dexerto lists Space for lift instead, so check your rotary vehicle keybinds.
Does Wardogs have controller support? Wardogs accepts a gamepad and Bulkhead's Season 2 notes added controller binds and an Aim Assist slider, but Steam's store data lists no controller support and Bulkhead has not called it full support.
Does Wardogs have aim assist? Yes. Since Season 2 (Oct 15, 2026), Wardogs has an Aim Assist strength slider under Settings > Controller > Advanced, set to 1 by default; 0 turns it off.
What is the push-to-talk key in Wardogs? Wardogs uses J for squad push-to-talk and K for proximity push-to-talk by default, and U toggles voice chat from the scoreboard.
How do I bribe a medic in Wardogs? Press F1 while downed in Wardogs to offer a bribe of up to $500 to whoever revives you; on a controller the bribe moved to X in Season 2.
Why won't my parachute open in Wardogs? A launch-period Wardogs bug could unbind the parachute key (Space), fixed by rebinding it in GameUserSettings.ini; since Season 2, parachutes also will not open below about 10 m.

Best SettingsThe guides agree on the core of a Wardogs setup for frame rate and visibility: Motion Blur, Depth of Field, Lens Flare and Bloom off, shadows and reflections at their lowest, view distance kept high, Nvidia Reflex on and an upscaler (DLSS or FSR) for frames. They disagree on VSync and on Reflections (Potato or Low).

Healing and RevivesIn Wardogs anyone can heal with bandages and revive a downed teammate by hand in about 20 seconds, and medical gear makes both faster: the free Emergency Resuscitator, the Field Resuscitator ($425), the First Aid Kit ($800), the Medical Bag ($1,800) and the instant Defibrillator ($1,600). Reviving and healing pay cash, and a revived player keeps all their gear. -
Building and FortificationsIn Wardogs you build with a hammer and build supplies ($10 each), mostly inside a Forward Operating Base ($7,500), whose radius lets your team build and keeps enemies from building. In Season 2 a Bremmer wall costs 32 supplies for 6,500 health, a mortar 600, a Talon SAM 650 and a Vanguard CIWS 1,200.

VehiclesWardogs has 24 vehicles in Season 2: quad bikes, buggies, SUVs, Humvees, Ural trucks, three tanks, an artillery tank, five transport and attack helicopters and the team's free M113 spawn APC. You buy each one at the vendor every life, from $500 for a Bobcat to $28,000 for a Havoc, after unlocking it on the Driver or Pilot track. -
DriverDriver is the Wardogs progression track for ground vehicles. In Season 2 it unlocks the Ural at level 3, the Wolf-110 at 8, the Humvee at 14, the T-72B3 tank at 20, the Flakpanzer Gepard at 25, the SPH-2 artillery tank at 31 and the L2A6 tank at 35 for $500,000, and it levels fastest from troop and supply runs. -
Helicopter Flying GuideTo fly a helicopter in Wardogs, unlock it with L, raise the collective (Left Shift by default in GamesRadar+'s and Shacknews' lists, Space in Dexerto's), then pitch with W and S, roll with A and D and yaw with Q and E. Guides say to practice in the Firing Range first and to try a controller or mouse flight.
