Wardogs 1.0 and console release: Dec 2028Not announced: our best guess from Bulkhead's plan to bring Wardogs to PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with 1.0, in 2028.
Best guessBulkhead's launch trailer says Wardogs is "COMING TO CONSOLES IN 2028", and CEO Joe Brammer calls the goal "the 1.0 launch on console", but no date is announced, so we count to the end of 2028, the last day the announced year allows. Bulkhead on Steam

Player Count

Wardogs had 85,929 people playing on Steam on Oct 26, 2026, with a peak of 199,595 in the past day. Its all-time Steam peak is 428,666 on Sep 13, 2026, three days after the Early Access launch, whose first-day peak was 337,157 (SteamDB). Season 2 lifted the count from about 125,000 to 336,679 on Oct 15.

Wardogs had 85,929 people playing on Steam on Oct 26, 2026, and a peak of 199,595 in the past day, by Steam's own charts; Steam's API counted 88,785 at 12:29 UTC that day. The all-time peak is 428,666 concurrent players on Sep 13, 2026, as SteamDB measured it, three days after the Early Access launch on Sep 10, when the count reached 337,157. The count has fallen since, as Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer said it would, with a rebound to 336,679 on Oct 15 when Season 2 arrived. Wardogs is only on Steam, so Steam's numbers are the whole PC audience (Consoles and Crossplay).

The chart on the home page

The Steam players chart at the top of the home page is SteamDB's data for Wardogs (app 1867240), read from SteamDB's charts page on Oct 26, 2026: the peak of each UTC day from Sep 10 to Sep 25, and the count at the start of every hour from Sep 26 on. Since then Vi.ki adds Steam's own public count every hour. The beta weekends are not on it, because the betas ran in a separate playtest app (app 4809930), as Steam's store data lists it. Below, a date after Sep 25 shows the highest of SteamDB's hourly readings that day, which can sit a little under the true peak.

Betas: August and September 2026

The first closed beta, Aug 21 to 23, drew more than 87,000 players on its first day despite "crippling server issues", and peaked at 105,774 on Sunday, Aug 23. PC Gamer noted that was more than Squad, Hell Let Loose or Arma ever had, and Howard Philpott said nearly 500,000 unique players tried it.

The second beta opened on Sep 3 and hit a daily peak of 162,488 on its first day, third on Steam behind Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2. It passed 200,000 on Sep 4, and after Bulkhead opened it to everyone on Sep 5 it peaked at 245,118 at 17:38 UTC that day. Bulkhead's own planning had been far smaller: Brammer said it had "planned for 5k players concurrent" (PC Gamer), and the "10 reasons NOT to buy" video called "3,000 to 5,000 daily concurrent players" sustainable (PC Gamer). The betas are on Release History.

Launch and the all-time peak

Wardogs launched in Early Access at 16:00 UTC on Thursday, Sep 10, 2026 and reached 337,157 players that day, the third most-played game on Steam after Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 (GamingBolt), while launch queues held at one point 168,000 people waiting for 45,590 in the game. The count climbed each day of the first weekend to the all-time peak of 428,666 on Sunday, Sep 13. Bulkhead had thanked players a day earlier "for helping us hit 400,000 Peak Concurrent Users" (Bulkhead), and everplay said the peak broke the group's record, held by Hell Let Loose: Vietnam at above 65,000. The clip is Bulkhead's footage from launch night, when its screens showed about 46,000 players in the game and 117,000 in the queue.

The "perfectly acceptable decline"

Brammer had warned before launch: "Wardogs will continue to lose players for months as the hype dies down. Doesn't make it a bad game or even a problem" (PC Gamer). When the count fell to 292,471 within days of the peak, he called it "the first phase of @WARDOGS perfectly acceptable decline". Weekends kept pulling it back up (402,803 on Sunday, Sep 20, and 333,322 on Sep 27), but the weekday highs slid through late September and October. At 3 million sales on Sep 26 Bulkhead wrote: "We know this hype won't last forever" (Bulkhead).

Season 2

Season 2 went live on Oct 15 and the count jumped from 124,583 the day before to 336,679, nearly back to launch day. PCGamesN reported daily highs of 300,000 active users in Season 2. On Oct 17 Wardogs had about 209,000 players on Steam, fifth behind Aion 2, PUBG, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2, per Insider Gaming. The rise did not last: after the Lonestar bonus and Driver exploit, Bulkhead's Oct 17 statement and the 175 ms ping cap on Oct 21, the daily high fell back to about 180,000 by Oct 22.

Players now (Oct 26, 2026)

On Monday, Oct 26, 2026, Steam's charts showed 85,929 people playing and 199,595 at the peak in the past day, and Steam's API reported 88,785 at 12:29 UTC, a morning hour in Europe and night in the Americas. That is under half the all-time peak but still far above the 5,000 Bulkhead planned for. The next expected jump is Season 3, with a fresh economy reset, expected on Nov 12, 2026.

Sales

Bulkhead's and Team17's own figures: more than 1 million copies on launch day, 1.25 million by 01:05 UTC on Sep 11, 2 million in under five days, and 3 million in just over two weeks, announced Sep 26; the Season 2 release says "more than 3 million copies" (Games Press). Brammer said 400,000 copies was the minimum Wardogs needed (The Game Business).

Analyst estimates

These are estimates, not Bulkhead's figures. Alinea Analytics estimated about 250,000 players a day in September, 3.2 million copies and $86.9 million in Steam revenue from Sep 10 to Sep 30, 2026, per GamesRadar+. Broker Panmure Liberum estimated about 50,000 sales a day in the two weeks to Sep 30 and a base case of 4 million copies by the end of 2026, per Proactive Investors. How players rate the game is on Reception and Reviews.
